A beautiful impression in bistre ink on chine appliqué with full margins from the posthumous edition of 1905. Signed in the plate. Edition of 100. There are a handful of lifetime impressions of the first state in museum collections. But there are no known lifetime impressions of the final state after reduction of the plate.

This plate is the second version of an etching after an oil painting, La bonne pipe (The Smoker), that Manet executed in 1866. The painting is now in the collections of the Minneapolis Art Institute.
